6,097 words from the Cook Islands Maori Dictionary by
Jasper Buse with Raututi Taringa (1995), searchable in either language,
with the example sentences the book gives for each meaning — and
9,248 English words from its finderlist, for going the other
way. Vāareka uses the same book when she is asked a word she has not
been taught.
Read from a scan. The text was read from the printed book by a
machine. It is good, but not perfect: now and then a macron or an
ʻāmata is lost, or two words run together. Each entry links to
its page of the book — check there before you rely on a spelling.
The book is the Rarotongan of the 1990s; where it differs from what a
speaker says now, the speaker wins.
